Please ensure all prints are handed to the Internal Competition Secretary or other committee members/helpers by 7:30 p.m. on the night of the competition.
If you are unable to bring your panel on the night, please email int-
Panels may contain individual images which have been entered in other internal competitions, but no panel entered in previous years should be entered in this one.
This competition is a good opportunity to let others see your work and receive some feedback, especially for those who are thinking about going for photographic awards.
Here are a few reminders and tips about the competition:
1 or 2 or 3 panels can be submitted. Please number them as 1, 2 and 3, just in case we are inundated with entries when only 2 will be entered.
Each panel can be made up of 3 or 4 prints.
Don’t forget to include at the back of your panel your name and the title of the panel.
Prints should be numbered 1, 2, 3 (4), on the rear to show the order you wish them to be displayed.
Display plan -
The set of prints (3 or 4) should share a common theme.
Each print in the panel should be mounted on an individual 50x40cm board. Smaller sized boards will be accepted if you prefer but please keep all boards in the panel the same size if using less than 50x40cm).
The print can be any size as long as it fits on a 50x40cm or smaller mount board. An A4 print looks very good in a 50x40cm mount so don’t think you have to print on A3 paper.
You need to think about the balance of the panel when mixing the orientation of print/mounts. For example, in a 1 row of 3, you may want the ends of the panel in landscape orientation with a portrait orientation in the middle.
Traditionally, prints are mounted to show through a bevel cut window/opening. For this competition you could just use 90˚ cuts (e.g. non-
It’s possible to purchase a large sheet of mount board from between £2.00 to £3.50 from the Range at the Dockside Outlet Centre. One A1 sheet is enough for two 50 x 40cm mount boards.
Another good place to purchase board from is Hobbycraft at Maidstone.
Here’s a website article on how to cut a very simple mount using no special equipment:
Just Google with something like “how to cut a simple picture mount board mat” and you will get loads of help.
Re Printing: if you don’t own a printer there are lots of on-
Come on Parkwood Members, we are a photography club and there are a lot of external competitions and exhibitions that require mounted prints – if you don’t enter competitions like this you are missing out on a big part of photography, i.e. displaying your work in print. If nothing else it’s good to let others see your work and get some feedback in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Certificates will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd placed panels.
