Gillingham from above

Photographs of a town are always worth taking as they can become historical documents in the future and a drone shot which I guess this is will have an extra wealth of detail. The football stadium in the centre is a good indication of this location. The horizon is a little off and I think I may have adjusted the exposure and contrast a little but otherwise this is a fine image of the town and well worth taking.

Autumn Colours. Bluebell Hill

The addition of the bridge provides a superb lead in to this image which would have been very flat without it. The contrast between the man made elements and the foliage also works well. I think a figure on the bridge to one side might have been an added element which would strengthen the comoposition. Well done on ensuring the image was sharp front to back and the warm colour combination in the foliage.

Light Trails. Battersea Power Station

1st

Wow, there is so much to enjoy here from the beautiful colours to the movement of the lights and all the other details such as the trains which suddenly seem to appear as you examine this image more and more. The light trails work very well indeed and add some great dynamism. The topping on the cake is the fact that the photographer here has realised that the best night shots are taken at dusk and include some colour in the sky. Excellent, well done.

Got my eye on you

SM

This is a great, detailed full frame shot of this robin. Our gaze is immediately drawn to the eyes and that surprisingly stern looking face. The exposure has retained some excellent detail in the feathers. The background does have some light areas but overal this is a great capture.

A bridge too far

This is a great exercise in the control of depth of field. There is sharp detail from front to back. The lighting is overcast and could have created large blank areas but the careful composition has utilised the foliage well. The figure on the far bank is a very important and well placed element of course without which the image would have felt very empty indeed.

The Armistice Kentish Belle

3rd

This is a nicely taken steam image which conveys a real sense of what these engines are all about. It is a classic 3/4 view and is timeless apart from the light signal/ The steam is nicely rendered and fills the sky area well. The bright sunny conditions have created some great colours and introduced some possible contrast issues which the photographer has coped with excellently.

Fireworks

Taking fireworks requires certain techniques and some luck with the hope that they explode in a good position within the frame. The photographer has done well here and in addition has been clever to introduce the nicely lit foreground interest. It is a shame that the sky is completely black and doesn't have a nice deep blue hue which would have been ideal in the perfect world. Well done on having a go at a potentially difficult subject.

Greenwich

2nd

This is an expertly crafted and well produced monochrome image. The composition and lighting work superbly together and everything leads towards the perfectly placed figure. The strong lighting has created some high contrat but the photographer has controlled this excellently.
