The light filtering through the leaves works well here adding contrast and colour to the autumn leaves. The dark tree trunk is a nice contrast and a strong feature. There is some blue sky at the base of the image which I would have cropped out. This would also remove part of the tree trunk which I feel will add a better balance to the image. Well done for looking up though and capturing this great light. |

This is something very different. The off centre composition works very well and the dark lighting surrounding the subject adds an air of mystery about what this is about. The monochrome is very good with a good bite of contrast and sharpness. I did wonder if the base of the chair legs could be lit a tad more to avoid making the chair appear to be floating in the air. Interesting and original. |

This is a clever image where careful thought has been applied. At first I thought the depth of field could be longer including having the hand sharp in focus but then I realised the face and eye being sharp grabs our attention more. The plain background does not distract us from that eye. A simple, uncluttered image to look at but one with thought behind it. |

A powerful image and even the inclusion of the fallen dead leaves adds another dimension to the story. There is no 'zing' point for our eye to finally rest upon which may have actually lessened the impact anyway but I would have cropped out the piece of paper at the top of the image which is a distraction for me. Thought provoking. |

Moving in closer for a detail shot can be just as powerful as an overal image as this proves. Technically the focussing and exposure are very good and I like the attempt at isolating the crosses. Unfortunately I think it could work better if a shallower depth of field was possible. I would suggest, if possible moving further away with a longer lens where the largest aperture should give even less depth of field. A nice, well seen idea though. |

First of all well done for getting in a good position to capture this image. It captures the atmosphere and the moment well. Unfortunately the lighting was against you as the harsh shadows testify and the image looks a little underexposed. Nevertheless you captured the moment and did well considering the conditions you were up against. |

It appears the photographer had the enviable opportunity to be in the pits here and has captured a real action moment. Apart from a couple of small distractions such as the plastic item bottom left and another photographer in the background this is a great action shot. I imagine the photographer was a little restricted in his movements as an image looking towards the front of the vehicle and the pit crew may be more attractive but considering this appears to have been taken in the evening they have done well and captured some good sharp detail at a relatively large aperture. |

Wow, what a riot of colour indeed. I cannot fault the title and the image itself is bright, clean and the differential focussing is good. My only criticisms are the bright white burnt out spots in the background and maybe a slight move to the left could have eliminated these. However, that is nit picking as I did enjoy this at this festive time of year. |

An interesting image quite different from other similar pictures I have seen. The large aperture chosen has completely thrown the image out of focus except for two of the still growing berries which are nicely sharp. This concentrates our gaze but the very soft shapes background are a little distracting and I would be tempted to crop the right side of the image completely and concentrate on the berries area. Nice use of apertures here. |

A very fine monochrome portrait. The quality in the image is very high especially the eyes and the contrast in the tones is perfect. I'm not sure about the woollen garment but the rest of the image displays a high level of expertise in monochrome portraiture. Very nice. |

A very atmospheric shot. It is always interesting how different weather conditions can completely alter a scene. The addition of the Christmas tree adds a nice splash of colour to this although the composition needs a little work. The buildings are cropped a little tight to the top left and the railing is acting as a barrier into the image. I would move closer to eliminate this barrier or if there was a gate in it nearby I would take the shot there with the gate open which would provide a welcome path into the image. |

I won't try and guess where you live in relation to this but it is certainly an interesting view. The framing caused by the bridge and its reflection has been excellently utilised here and you have had the benefit of some mist to add some drama to the scene beyond. The scene beyond is a little small in the image but that was the cost in getting that brilliant framing. |

I enjoy taking fireworks which are not an easy subject to take. This one is similar to my style where I take a long exposure and let the fireworks fill the frame. This enables you to include their trails into the sky and the explosions. Exposure can be tricky but here we have good detail and colour with hardly any burnt out, (sorry!), areas. The icing on the cake is including the people, excellent. I'm not sure about the frame but the image itself is top notch for a fireworks image. |

This is a well seen image and shows a good eye. Not only are the shapes repeated but so are the shadows. The colours ombination of the oranges and blues are great too. There are a couple of burnt out areas and I wonder if the image could be made stronger by emphasising the colours more. I may have darkened the blue more. Well seen and well taken. |

A great subject but of course it will be filled with reflections which can be used as part of the composition. Here they are not really working although I would have made a point of the photographer being in the image by moving to the right so they were positioned centrally in the glasses lens. The image here may not work too well but the object is a great subject and could be used as part of a composite image. |

I really enjoy the monochrome treatment here which is spot on. The tones, contrast and detail are excellent. The subject certainly looks the part. The eyes are looking away so there is no direct contact with the viewer and they are a little dark for my tastes. For personal taste as the subject appears to be playing a note or chord I would have preferred to see the Fender plugged in. A quality studio image of this young musician. |

A good different approach to firework photography with a nice reflection. I like the shape of the fireworks which has been captured and the reflected colours work well. Firework exposure is not easy and here some parts are a little burnt out. Nevertheless, this has been well done and is something original. |

this is a good image of this water feature with some nice rich colouring to emphasise the stonework. It has been well taken in subdued lighting which has revealed all the tones. The chosen shutter speed has given an icy feel to the water and I may have experimented with a longer speed to soften this. Even so this is a very competent image of this subject. |

Lovely autumn colours and lovely autumn light. The composition is nicely framed top and bottom and the castle is well rendered. Unfortunately, the large hedge obscures part of the building and acts as a barrier in the image. Without it this would be a great view. Full marks for taking advantage of the excellent conditions, just a shame the castle gardeners didn't leave a gap in that hedge. |

The raking light works well here emphasizing the form and detail on the leaves. The autumn colours are a nice combination. The image appears to be taken indoors with a plain background and I wonder if this would have worked better in the natural environment with more vegetation around. Nicely taken,. |

This has been well seen and considering the lighting conditions which could easily fool a camera lightmeter it has been well exposed. I would have cropped off the light area and the pylons on the right hand side. The mountain tones and the sky tones are very noisy and I would have darkened these areas down which would have further emphasised the house. well seen again. |

There are some attractive colours here. Strong silhouettes work well on images like this and here we have clear images of palm trees. The gap between them nicely shows a building of the area as well. The silhouettes are a little too large and dense in some areas which is a slight shame but otherwise I'm sure this is a great memory of your visit. |

There is much to enjoy in this image. Certainly the atmosphere created by the mist is excellent. There is also good detail through the mist abd the conposition is good. Initially I was alittle confused about the background but then realised a telephoto lens has been used proving that not all good landscapes are not always taken with wide angles. |

A very seasonal image. This appears to be a still life of an ornament and it has been taken very well. Sharpness, detail and wexposure are spot on and the lighting is great. The white background often gives the appearance of an object floating in mid air but here it creates a snow feel and works well. An ideal candidate for a personal Christmas card I'd say. |

The artificial lighting on the pier here has been extremely well captured with an excellent range of tones and nothing burnt out. I like the dynamic composition with the pier thrusting out into the background. My only concern is that the surrounding areas are very dark. It is perhaps counter intuitive but it is often better to take night shots at dusk or twilight which often gives dark but saturated hues that work very well. I cannot fault the pier here but I wondered how it would look with the sea lightened up a tad. Still a great shot though. Well done. |

To me this comes across as a record shot of this premises. It is full of sharp detail and considering the difficult lighting a great deal of information has been captured throughout the exposure range. Looking at the image I can see a wealth of subject matter to concentrate on for further images. An interesting subject well taken and worth returning to. |

A very festive and timely image. I like the abstract approach to this but be wary of burnt out highlights especially on the edges of the images. I like the semi transparency of certain elements which is a good technique for this type of image. |

The zoom burst whether in camera or in post processing has added a nice extra touch to this image which could otherwise been unremarkable. The colours work well for the title although the zoom burst has given the unfortunate effect of giving each person one leg which is a little disconcerting. Well done on applying an effect which emphasises the title. |

This is an attractive image of this cute animal. The expression and attitude is great as is focussing and exposure. An effect has been applied which has added noise to the mid tones which are clearly seen on the background. I would have tried applying selective noise reduction here. The frame is not to my liking but the image within is great. |
