Allium close up

This extreme close up is like a real explosion of colour and dynamic lines. The simple palette works well. There does seem to be an empty space in the centre but otherwise this is an interesting and finely captured image.

There is a fine quality to this image with wonderful detail in the fur. The addition of the grasses is a nice touch and well seen. To be absolutely perfect although obviously out of the control of the photographer, direct eye contact would have been fantastic. Nevertheless this is a fine image.

Mount Vesuvius & Naples

I very much enjoy the composition here and how the photographer has spotted a similarity in the shape of the foreground lasndscape and the distant volcano. This also gives a nice sense of depth to the image as well. I wondered if some more detail could have been teased out of the clouds which are a little bright but this is a minor point in this great landscape.

It WILL Start!

I always like seeing a picture that tells a story and this is a good example and well seen by the photographer. There are some nice leading lines and some nice detail here. The subject of the story is a little lost in the frame though and I would have been tempted to crop closer in to accentuate it more. Well seen and nicely taken.

This is a superb exampe of an infra red image and also shows how a special effect can greatly enhance an image. I find there is a fineline with special effects between enhancing a picture or swamping it completely in which case the actual image itself is lost. Here, however, we have an excellent composition which has been enhanced beautifully by the infra red treatment. There are a couple of very bright areas but this is to be expected in this technique and as much detail as possible has been retained. Excellent.

There is an obvious timeless feel to this which I feel is down to skillful use of lighting and the pose also has a classic 'Hollywood' movie star feel. The quality of then image speaks for itself and there is nothing else to say really.

Millennium Bridge.

A telephoto lens compresses perspective and it can really change the look of an image and also create images that are simply different. This is a great example of that as it shows a well known locationn in a completely different way. I also enjoy how the light metalwork of the bridge contrasts with the brick wall. To further enhance the image and tighten the composition I think I would cropped the rihjt hand side and turned this into a square format image. Well seen nvertheless.

One New Change

I like the composition here and how the various lines pull us into the image. The figures in the foreground are also nicely placed. The use of monochrome has produced a contrasty image which is unfortunately a bit busy. I would certainly have darkened down the top of the image. Well done on spotting the scene though.
