This is a different approach to landscape photography. The low viewpoint works very well and there is a huge depth of field. There is plenty of white here but very few very burnt out areas which is nice to see. Cropping down to a letterbox works well too. Very nice.

I like the story here and the sharpness and composition are very good. Some areas of the image are very bright but I do commend the photographer for capturing this.

York Station

There are a great deal of wonderful shapes and curves here which take us in and lead us through the image. The use of monochrome accentuates these shapes but it is a shame that the contrast is a tad too high. I am sure there could be detail to be teased out of the shadows and highlights in the RAW file if it exists. A wonderful composition nonetheless.

Colour infra-red even from film days always creats a distorted but interesting volour palette and this is a good example. Even so it still needs to be applied to an image where I like to see it accentuates it and does not become it. Here I would like to see some more in the actual composition itself. The photographer has shown there mastery of this technique which is good.

I enjoy the various layers and planes here that lead us through the image from the foreground and beyond. I like the nicely placed but small steeple on the third in the background. The colours are cool and maybe something else is needed to capture our eye but otherwise this is a nicely constructed landscape.

This is an infra-red image that really reminds me of the days of Kodak HIE film. It demonstrates exactly the same attributes and even has the slight softness ann the grain. For all I know it could well be a Kodak HIE image. I do enjoy special effects but as I said earlier I think they should enhance but not overpower and here it certainly adds something extra to this composition. Very good indeed.

The White Horse, Bearsted

If it was not for the pink trees this could easily have been mistaken for a straight wintry scene.  The colour infra-red is intriguing but I don't think it works quite so well here. The trees are a little bright and overpowering and take me away from the building which is the subject in the title. I'm sure the landlord would enjoy a copy of this.

I commend the photographer here for spotting this image. I imagine the exposure measurement here could have presented many difficulties including underexposure but the resulting image is nicely balanced with a wealth of detail in what could easily have been deep shadow. The hole and the sun are unavoidably over exposed with a spot of flare but that is to be expected. The composition is not dynamic with the boat in the middle of the image but I do enjoy the idea and the nicely presented result.

left to rust away

This looks like a brilliant subject and I'm sure there are many images to be had here. The photographer has chosen to show us the boat in the landscape which does give strength to the fact that is was left to rust away. I think I would have cropped the sky out to focus our attention more on the vessel. I think I might also have experimented with different levels of brightness as that long shadow could mean there is some great surface details to accentuate. The composition is good though especially having the boat on a dynamic diagonal.
