A very gentle and quiet image which actually fits in quite well with the times we are living through. The lighting is very flat which does give us a full range of tones. (Bright sunlight can cause very bright spots and deep dark shadows in subjects like this). Full of sharp detail and a nice composition. |

This is full of atmosphere and I like the inclusion of the branches to frame the Moon. My only concern is that the Moon is completely burnt out. Obviously exposing for it would have most probably lost the sky detail and the branches but I may have tried a double exposure at different settings or inserting a correctly exposed Moon over this one presented here. No denying the excellent atmosphere here though as I said previously. |

A very simple and different image. The monochrome is very well handled and the composition is well balanced. Choosing a shallow depth of field has given a nice soft edged shadow but also made the black line soft as well so it is not as thin as it could be. I would be interested in doing a comparison by retaking this with a deeper depth of field. O course the photographer may well have done this already and preferred this version which is great. |

Clever and very well executed. The idea maybe simple in concept but I imagine some thought went into creating the final version. The monochrome is again very well controlled as is the sharpness but it is the composition which deserves mention. The bowl is off centre and we are led to it by the very well placed spoon. Very nicely done. |

When I first saw the title I wondered what the image would be! There is certainly a story being told here and I wondered how the inhaler came to be in this location. Was it lost or intentionally dumped here? The use of monochrome does add a reportage feel to this although the tones are a bit too heavy for me. An image with a good story. |

There is a good use of colour here with the warm tones of the bee contrasting nicely with the vegetation colours. The image is not pinsharp although there is some good detail on the bee. If the image was sharper it could have been cropped so that the insect filled the frame more. (The pose seems to suggest it has lost one of its legs I noticed). Still a nice capture. |

This is a good exercise in just using one light. The angle of it has given excellent surface detail on the guitar. It is unfortunate that the white label within the guitar is a little distracting. The uneven composition with the guitar to the left works well as it seems to accentuate the angle of the light. |

It is good to see that in these lockdown times people are still indulging in their photography but indoors now. This is good subject matter for creating images with. The range of shapes and colours present are good and should provide endless compositions. However, this composition needs some fine tuning as there are components which are cut in half by the edge of the frame. The technique displayed is very good with accurate exposure and sharpness so for me it is just the details on the compositions to sort. |

This is a much more successful composition with all the components nicely within the frame and also nicely arranged. It is a shame that the depth of field does not extend from the foreground through to the background as this is the only thing which disappoints here. I would suggest a small aperture or experimenting with focus stacking. |

This has been extremely well captured. These little creatures are often seen on the ground in images so I must congratulate the photographer on capturing one up a tree and so nicely composed within its frame of leaves. The point of focus and the depth of field has isolated the animal very well. The only really minor point is the patch of white in the background adjacent to the squirrels head but that was out of the control of the photographer at the taking stage. Well done on this. |

Clever, funny but also with a serious message. I won't guess if this is a straight shot or a composite but it does not really matter as it works well. I'm finding now that pictures which have a story are the one's I find most memorable and this one certainly fits that remit. |

The subjects in the title are actually a very small part of the image but the real star is the lighting. Shooting directly at the sun is a good test of your optics but your equipment passes muster very well here. It is unfortunate about the cloud/vapour trail adjacent to the sun but that was beyond the photographers control, otherwise this is an excellent shot. |

This image and the previous one demonstrate the advantage of capturing images at the extremes of the daylight hours. The door is open to supreme lighting and colours that are lost during the midday hours. Again the subjects are a little small in the frame and I would have used a slightly longer lens or cropped this a little. Not too much though as the dead space works well. Very nice. |

Another photographer out in the early morning after the special light often available then which is good to see. I like the use of the letterbox crop although I would have gone further and removed the sun completely as it is very bright and is cut by the edge of the frame. This would also serve to move the horizon higher up and avoid it cutting the picture exactly in half as we see here. As a word of advice I notice there are spots on the image which indicate foreign bodies on the camera sensor. These are relatively easy to clone out or better still have your sensor cleaned. |

There is a very strong colour contrast here reminiscent of using a polarising filter as the sky is very dark and the highlights nicely controlled. Having said that there is a strange soft focus effect in some of the supports which has softened them somewhat. As the pods are empty I assume this will be another 2020 shot that will remind us of the times we lived through this year. Another image with a story. |

This is a super quality image. The detail in the insect is superb further accentuated by the lighting. The green muted out of focus background is devoid of any distractions which is what you require in a shot such as this. It is a little unfortunate that the colour of the bold red plants takes our eye away from the main subject but the lack of depth of field here soon drags our eyes back to the main subject. Very nice. |

I had to look at this image a few times as initially it appears to be a strikingly colourful but very straight forward shot but the reflection really caught my eye. It is very broken and stretched but still recogniseable but then I noticed it doesn't really resemble what is above, the stretched bright areas confused me somewhat. Of course, this could well be a straight shot with an interesting effect. Away from that I was concerned that the image is a little cluttered around the main subject. Interesting and colourful. |

This is a very sharp and detailed study of the Monopoly game. I like the composition and the careful arrangement of the various pieces. However, for a subject that is full of colour I'm a little confused at the choice of monochrome. The dark black surrond also gives the impression everything is suspended in the air. The moochrome conversion has been very well handled with good tones and contrast. |

This is a very strong composition. The off centre path forces us to travel through the picture and leaves us wondering what is beyond, what will we find? The lighting has created a nice range of tones especially in the grasses. The sky is a little bright and I may have tried a more extreme letterbox crop to really accentuate that path. Nicely done. |

The idea behind this image is very good. The group in the foreground give the viewer a link between the foreground and the background landscape they are enjoying. However, this image requires some finetuning to take full advantage of this technique. The tree and the fence are acting as a barrier into the image so I would search out a more pleasing viewpoint or change their position in the composition to minimise them. The photographic technique is good with good use of depth of field and accurate exposure. |

This is a well seen and well taken image. Using natural frames can be very advantageous and here it has worked very well in this woodland scene. There is a wealth of detail and I like the deep depth of field. As an improvement for me I would have taken it with the distant walker figure closer to the camera, perhaps where the forked piece of wood is. This would have acted as an object to add depth and further draw us into the image. |
