This is an interesting monochrome study. I like how the screen has been used as lighting for the subject. The expression makes us wonder what they are thinking. There appears to be movement in the head taking an edge off the sharpness but otherwise this is a nice image.

The Stairway

These old stairways of the type found in old Napoleonic forts make great subjects. The brickwork is often to an extremmely high standard with great tortuous shapes. Lighting can be a problem as shown here with the burnt out areas. It may be worth trying some HDR techniques on something like this. I do like the sense of depth created though.

Robin

SM

Well done on capturing this robin in a bush and not on the ubiquitous fork handle. There is a lot to like about this image. It does appear to have been sharpened and this is as far as I would go as it really stands out nicely. It is a great image except for the large green object on the left which could easily be cropped out to leave a more balanced image. Very nice indeed.

Pigeon Run

2nd

This is a very well captured moment. The pose of the child is very good but it is the birds that make it. They are superbly well placed in the image space and I really enjoy the blurring of the wings in contrast to the sharp bodies, well done. The figure in the background and the sign are distractions I would clone out which would then concentrate everything on the child. This would make an already good image into something extra special for me.

Taken Flight

Another superbly timed image. The attitude of the bird is excellent with the wings in a great folded position. The water splashes and the exposure which retains detail in the whites is very good. Unfortunately the bird is not sharply in focus which is a shame but I cannot fault your technique and timing.

A Light Bulb Moment

There is something about this image that puzzles me but I can't quite see why. It does not matter as this is a great example of tone control. It would have been very easy to lose the edges of the glass but everything is nicely captured with good focussing.

Foggy Bluebell Hil

It is always good to venture out in different weather conditions and this image of fog with sunshine breaking through is good. I like the way fog disguises details and what are often very recogniseable subjects become something different. This is a simple but effective composition but I would have lowered the lens slightly to capture all of the foreground post and crop out some of the bright area at the top of the frame. A nice image.

Leaving the Moorings

1st

The photographer here has clearly spotted potential in the ripples of the wake and waited for the optimum moment when the vessel is perfectly placed in the image space. In fact every element in this composition appears to have been carefully examined and placed perfectly from the blue sky to the reflections. It was inevitable that the boat would clash with the horizontal line of buildings but their contrasting colour does help to soften the blow. Nicely seen and taken.

Blue Jeans and Shadows

SM

This is something very different but effective. The shadow in particular works extremely well. The conspicious white label on the jeans suggests this subject was out of reach as I would have removed that. If it was out of the photographers control he should be congratulated on capturing this interesting and eyecatching image.

Godrevy Point

I like the drama in this image and the composition which snakes us through from the foreground to the lighthouse via the surf which has been nicely caught. Lighting wasn't on your side but this does add to the ruggedness of the location but I would have cropped out the sky to tighten the composition. With all those tones it may be worth trying a monochrome version of this which I think could be quite successful.

Wheal Coates

This is a nicely composed image with good foreground interest leading us via the coast into the background. Taking conditions were very good which have created quite a tranquil image. I wonder how this would look in monochrome on a stormy day? A very well taken seascape/landscape.

Like Bookends

The two subjects here a very central in the image and I wonder if having the bench offcentre would have created a more balanced image where the outward gaze of the subjects would lead us more into what looks to be a great landscape location. I'm assuming the title indicates the similarity of the couple but I was wondering to enhance the 'bookends' feel would it work better with each person at each end of the bench? Nevertheless it is a nicely taken image in a great location.

Beckenham High Street

This is nice exercise in using available, in this case artificial lighting. The shape of the hanging piece works well against the light of the coffee sign. Be careful with the title as there is nothing in ther image that says Beckenham to an outsider like myself although a local may recognise the shape of the gable end which has been nicely but subtly reflected in the glass.

Frosty Clover

Clean, bright and vibrant with great sharpness. We do appear to have some frozen water on the flower but I wonder if the image should have been taken ealier. The bright sunshine has given a nice image but I wonder if more ice/frost and taken in overcast conditions with its attendant blue lighting would have given a greater feeling of the cold.

Kingsnorth Pier

3rd

I love the ripples in the water which contrast well with the stillness of the background. If this was my image I think I would go ultra brave and turn it into a long thin letterbox composition where I would crop the foreground, retain the ripples as much as possible and crop the sky right down close to the pier which is a little small in this composition. I think this would further enhance the great image you already have.

Sunrise at Broomhill Park

SM

I have never been to Broomhill Park but this artwork looks to be a great addition there. Well done to the photographer for spotting that it faces the rising sun at the time of year the image was taken. I enjoy the surface detail on the edge of the hole and the skeletal trees work well against the rich colours of the sunrise. For me the image is all about the hole and I would have cropped out everyrthing surrounding the stone. Well seen and well taken.

Wait for me guys

It is always nice to see a story in an image. This has been nicely seen and taken. It would have been nice to have more space in front of the two birds as opposed to having more space behind the rear bird which would have accentuated a sense of movement. The diagonal composition is good which adds some dynamism to the composition.

Composite of high and low tide showing underlying rocks at Hele, Devon

This is something very different and interesting. I've always enjoyed the rock formations you find in Devon and this shows them well. The join with the beach works well although the sealine does look a bit awkward and the horizon is a little off as well. Nevertheless, this is a great exercise in doing something a bit unique but also a little educational as well.
