There is an interesting painterly effect here which has enhanced this nicely. There is a story as well which I like and it shows you do not have to have prisitine examples to create a fine image. The high key is a little too high for me but overal this is an enjoyable image. |

I am assuming this was taken at one of the light festivals that often occur at this time of year. This projection works well and I commend the photographer for spotting the composition but also for overcoming the technical difficulties. Well done. |

The exposure here is well controlled with only the face on the castle forebuilding being burnt out which is really beyond the photographers control. I wasn't too sure about including the people but it does show what is going on. Good to see detail in the sky which is often lost on night images. |

A very high contrast image but interesting to retain the colour of the spirit. Careful lighting has given us the edges of the bottle which is well done.Nice. |

We have two near identical images in this selection and I casnnot help but judge each against the other. This one has well controlled tones and the splash of spirit colour does give a nice contrast. Exposing for glass and retaining the details and the edges is not easy so well done there. |

Extremely well placed in the picture space and the little chap seems to be basking in the light. Even the lighting in the background matches the situation of the bird. Nice to see it not on the ubiquitous garden tool handle. The angle of the fence also adds some dynamism as well to the composition. |

This is a sublime image for which I can find nothing to fault. The technical quality from lighting to exposure and presentation are just simply excellent. Taking a portrait in landscape mode and placing the cropped subject off centre seems to break all the rules but here it works supremely. |

This is something different which has been very well scene. The composition is excellent and I like the foreground interest which takes us into the image where we find leading lines taking us all the way to the church. The natural frames incorporated into the image also work very well. The single figure is very important as are the no entry signs. Well done. |

This is a great photographic subject which has been nicely rendered. I like the pose and most importantly the focussing has been spot on to ensure sharpness in the head area. I think I would suggest lowering the camera next time to include more of the area around the feet as it is a little tightly cropped here with excess space above the head. Nicely taken though with absolutely no distractions elsewhere in the composition. |

A simple image of the tree which cuts the image in two but although this breaks rules does strangely seem to work. I like the composition with the other silver birch in the background and the old building which are out of focus thereby leaving our attention on the lovely detail on the foreground tree. |

A very striking image. The action has been well caught and timed, the bird in particular is in a great pose. The image stands out gainst the white background and I assume this image has been cut out to maybe remove a cluttered background. This works well although the area around the birds head looks a little too obvious. This is a slight shame as I like the image and the story. If this image has been cut out in this way I would certainly recommend having another go as the picture certainly deserves it. |
