1.3 medway bridges

SM

This is an interesting view showing the three structures. I like the dynamic composition and the foreground vegetation works well. Lighting is a little flat and I may have cropped the right hand slightly but I do like the sky detail and tones throughout the tonal range. A nice image that could prove to be an historical document in the future.

Locked out swan

SM

There is a lot to enjoy here with just a couple of minor points. The story being told is very good, if a little sad about how man has curtailed some natural freedoms. The dramatic lighting is good although there are a few completely burnt out areas on the swan. I would also clone out the light coloured grasses in the top right. Everything else is very good including that reflection.

Keep Your Distance

This is an interesting, creative and very topical image. Every element works well and is well placed in the image space. The painting style filters are very effective. I'm a little concerned about the uneven lighting which gives the impression this is a photographed copy of another image and not a computer generated image created using photographic software. (If this is a copy of an artwork I would be wary of copyright issues.)

Shorne Country Park

I enjoy the sense of depth here created by the foreground horizontal branches leading us into the image and through the arches formed by the other branches. Good use of depth of field has created sharp detail throughout. The colour balance is a little cold and may benefit from warming up but as I said I'm impressed with the depth of field control.

Shadow tree

SM

What makes this image is that shadow. At first glance I was concerned that the tree would be lost against the background but careful control of the monochrome tones has separated these elements. The tree and the shadow are a little tight in the frame but this is a very good image. Nice.

Bluebells

2nd

This is certainly a very different bluebells picture as I have no recollection of seeing anything like this before. The flower is a good specimen and the watercolour effect works very well. There are a few soft areas but these are compensated by the excellent detail in the open buds. I also like the faded details in the lighter areas of the  background.

Open for viewing-Vacant Possession

3rd

The title of this is quite apt when you study the image. It is certainly a different view of a plant and is well produced. The zing point is the centre of the flower with the excellent detail and sharpness. The colour red can easily become saturated into a solid colour but here it is controlled right to the limit. Very good.

Passed useful life

A riot of colour and detail. The various colours are well arranged throughout the image space. The lighting is very bright and I wondered if a small reduction in brightness and saturation might have further inmproved what is a very good study of a subject many others may have walked by.

Western Chimpanzee

1st

To me this picture tells a vivd and somewhat sad story. The chimpanzee which is exceptionally well presented in monochrome with superb sharpness, tones and detail has an air of melancholy about it with a bowed head with the bars behind it. The deep set eyes staring straight at us are the icing on the cake for me. Powerful stuff.

Chilean Flamingo

In total contrast to the preceding image this one shows the bird in its element. Again the photograph is well produced and the warm colours of the bird contrast expertly with the blue of the water.

Fishermen boats waiting at low tide

I like the composition here which has a nice sense of depth to it. The lighting has created a great tonal range and the image appears to have an artwork filter added which works well. The vignette is a little too strong for me and I would certainly reduce it a tad. Well seen and well taken.

The groynes here are a great shape and would most certainly be a good subject for many images in either colour or monochrome. In this image they are set against a pastel coloured sky and the long exposure has blurred the water nicely. Although this appears to be an experiment at using dead space I feel that personally  would like something extra in that sky. As presented it is a nice quality image.
