This is something very different and very striking. The droplet works well and incorporates a mini version of the image within it. Being a macro shot depth of field and sharpness is vital and the pencil is a slightly soft, I think a high pass sharpness application would improve it more without touching the other colours. Nevertheless, it is a good image. |

The quality of the detail on the watch is exceptional here and I like the careful attention to detail and placement ensuring the reflection is even. it is a shame about the frame of the mirror but this has been subdued by placing it out of focus which is a good move. |

There is real character in the features of this portrait brought out by the careful lighting and excellent use of monochrome presentation. I think it has been sharpened a tad as well to further accentuate the details. |

The great thing that makes this stand out is the natural setting. The ubiquitous Robin on a garden spade handle is often done and is still a great image but this one has that added extra. The bird is wonderfully placed and has perfect sharpness and detail. I think I might have strengthened the tones by adjusting the colour and tone but otherwise this is very good. |

The use of monochrome here has worked well and given a timeless feel to this scene. The contrast range is very good to with good whites and blacks and a good range between those extremes. As there is no foreground detail or any lead in lines I would crop off the bottom of this image. |

Judging by the weather we have been experiencing recently this looks like a place I'm sure many of us would like to be at the moment. The tree branches dominate the picture space but there is sufficient space to see through and the reflection from the sand has cancelled out any dark shadow areas filling the image with light. I did wonder if the figure would work better on the right hand third but where he is on the left is just as good. The photographer also timed it nicely with that gloroius sweep of wave in the optimum position. Very good. |

This is a riot of colour and the bright colours of the plumage contrast nicely with the greens of the foliage. The point of focus on the birds eye is very important and spot on here. The photographer has ensured that the complete tail is included which is good but I think I would have gone further and cropped off the right side to turn this into a square image. Do this and maybe tone down the yellow a tad and this would be even better than it already is. |

This is a very different view of Lanzarote from our usual perception of the island. I imagine there are two approaches to this subject, the wide view as we have here or perhaps a close up amongst the puple flowers. The sky here is very nice but I think a letterbox crop would emphasise the contrast between the plants and the volcanic landscape more. Well done on finding this alternative take on Lanzarote. |

The colours of the sunset and the recession amongst the landscape is brilliant here. The silhouetted foliage in the forgtround gives a good sense of depth but it is very dense especially on the right hand side. If this is cropped a bit most of the beautiful background is still retained. Well done on finding the lone palm tree on the left third which is perfectly placed. |

This reminds me of the 'spot the ball' competitions from my youth. The timing is impeccable and every figure has a part to play in the story of this image. The monochrome treatment is great with a perfect contrast range. Excellent. |

It has to be said this could never be claimed as the best view of these players but that is not the point. The story is in the title and the ball with the hand is excellently framed by the players legs, and on the third as well! The top of the image is cropped which isn't a problem as the action and interest is elsewhere. |
