Castle Grounds

2nd

This is a very good picture with much to commend it. Initially the monochrome treatment works very well and is a nice quality with some good tones. The position of the skeletal tree and the three arches in the stonework makes nicely balanced composition. the angled raking light is the icing, well done.

Rochester Castle

The keep at Rochester Castle is a fine and historical building and this is a different and interesting angle. The image itself does have a strange softness and the colour balance looks a little cool. Well done on finding a different viewpoint with the drone.

Tulip Staircase, Queen's House, Greenwich

This is a masterclass in composition, control and monochrome. Everything in the image leads us to the circular feature in the centre which is also the brightest point but without any burnout. The various monochrome tones are expertly controlled as is the depth of field throughout. Very nice indeed.

A man And His Feathered Friends

SM

This is a nicely caught moment and I like the interaction of the subject and the birds. There is a burnt out area in the hair which is a shame but I think another improvement to this could have been a tighter crop which would have reduced the bright background and the drainpipe. I do enjoy the story that is being told here.

Leeds Castle Christmas Lights

Night photography is not easy but I must congratulate the photographer here for filling the frame nicely with the light beams and the nice contrasting warm colours on the stonework. If this was taken earlier, (if possible), a deep blue colour in the sky may have appeared but as presented the photographer did well at this time of the day.

Leeds Castle Christmas Lights

This night shot has also been nicely captured and there is also sky detail which is a good addition. Ther various colours of the lights work well as do the reflections. I suggest a tighter crop may strengthen the composition but well done on this result from what can be a challenging exercise.

The Cuckmere Cottage and Seven Sisters

The Seven Sisters and tha coastguard cottages are a classic south of England view and in such circumstances it can be a good exercise to find a different viewpoint. I like how the photographer has found a gap in the foliage which leads us into the image. The lighting is not strong but the bright even conditions have ensured good details especially on the cliffs.

Man and Dog, Southgate, Rochester

For me there are two images here both of which could tell the same story. As presented we are shown a Rochester building which is nicely presented and taken in good lighting. The leading lines in the composition especially from the bottom left take our eyes directly to the subject in the title which is very good. A second image I see here is a crop on the archway itself with the figure and dog and that excellently lit background through the arch.

The Walbrook Club

Night photography can be a challenge and in addition to mastering the technical aspects it is also important choosing the correct time to fire the shutter. The photographer has done well here as there are colours throughout which could have been solid blacks if taken at a different time. RThe warm tones on the building itself are very pleasing. Although the cool colours on the surrounding arer attractive it does mean the subject is a little dwarfed and I think I might have cropped this slightly o accentuate the 'club' more. Full marks for the exposure.

King's Cross

I have seen a number of images of this tunnel and without doubt it is a fine subject. This one stands out as I have not seen this bold colouring before. There are however a few points against it such as the advertising text and that letter 'A' which catches the eye and distracts us from the composition. The figures are an important part but they are a little distant. One final point I would address is the bright highlight top left which I would have cloned out. Despite the comments above I do enjoy this and I think it would make a great 3D image.
