This is a good use of monochrome which although it is quite high contrast the photographer has managed to retain detail in the shadows. These dark areas could easily have blocked up but there is some nice separation there. I think I would have preferred overal sharpness as the soft edges do distract. |

The photographer caught this at the optimum moment of impact. Although the shutter speed is high there is a sense of movement here. The crowd in the background show how wet it was on this occsion but I think I might have cropped this down to a square format concentrating on the truck. Nicely captured. |

Very nice panning, optimally placed in the picture frame and very good exposure especially with a very dark subject. The locked front wheel and the blue smoke tell the story. Very good. |

The story within the title is a small part of the frame but the landscape with its wonderful lighting complements it beautifully and adds another dimension. Foreground interest, three subjects, leading lines and great lighting. This really is a nicely constructed image. |

Essentially this is a pattern picture that is enhanced by the basically two colour palette. The strong sharp shapes are a real contrast to the soft shapes in the reflection. At first I wondered if it would have been better with a sharper reflection but this does work very well. |

This is a nicely taken view of Chartwell. The use of a wide lens has given an image with good depth of field and the composition leads us nicely through the image. The sky detail is added extra. The lack of people gives the picture an empty feel but it is a good pictorial record of the gardens around the house. |

I have to admit I have not seen this view of this famous house before but it does nicely show how the building sits in the landscape. The weather has given some flat lighting and I'm not sure about the path which leads us out and away from the subject. Well done for showing a different view of Chartwell. |

I enjoy the sharp contrast and good tones in the top two thirds of this image although I think I would have cropped out the bottom third. The addition of the crane works well against the sky and well done for looking up and spotting this composition. |

For me the telephone box is the star of this composition as it adds a strong warm colour and really is a powerful element. The bikes also work well with that contrasting colour. I think there was scope for different images here. I think an ultrawide shot taken close to the bikes and just including the telephone box in the background could work well. As presented I think this is a tad underexposed as the shadow areas are really blocked up. Otherwise well done for looking for something different in the big city. |
